Do you have Acid Reflux?

Writer: Dawn WestrumDawn Westrum

Did you know that Acid Reflux is caused by LOW stomach acid? That’s right. Not enough acid in the stomach causes the sphincter to remain open, leading to bloating, heartburn, infections, and other issues.

Fixing Acid Reflux might be as simple as adding methylated B Vitamins to your diet.

NOW GO CHECK. RIGHT NOW. If you have a B complex or a multivitamin in your cupboard or drawer, check that the B12 form is Methylcobalamin. Check that the B9 says Folate or 5-MTHF. If so, great!

But if your bottle shows B12 is cyanocobalamin, or the B9 is Folic Acid, then throw the bottle away. It’s a cheap synthetic form which might be contributing to other health issues such as high blood pressure, sleep issues, anxiety, and high cholesterol. A majority of humans cannot absorb synthetic B Vitamins and actually decline in health when they are included in the diet.

If you are taking antacids, H2 blockers, proton pump inhibitors, or a medication that ends in -azole, then you should think about safely getting off these products. They were never meant to be proscribed for more than 2 weeks, and yet people are on them for years.

Bottom Line?  Stomach acid is important for health, and we should seek out ways to increase it.
