Are GPS Pet Trackers Dangerous?

Let’s look at the signals these trackers emit.

My friend and I often go hiking with her dog. The dog runs circles around us. If we walk 10 miles, I’m sure she runs 50! And sometimes I’m curious to see just how far she IS going. But is curiosity a good enough reason to attach a GPS collar? Or even worse, a sleep tracker?

Animal tracking for research has been ongoing for a while now. We have learned a lot from the data as we watch whales swim across an entire ocean. BUT. There is gathering evidence that the trackers themselves alter the behavior of the animals and affect their longevity.  This is because of the frequencies emitted by the trackers to communicate with their base station (i.e. your phone). Otherwise known as Electromagnetic Frequencies (EMFs).

As humans, we have a choice to carry our phones or look at our screens, which are both sources of non-healthy electro pollution. But your dog doesn’t have a choice in the matter.   If you want to use a GPS tracker occasionally with them for your own curiosity, then go for it. But use it as little as possible, take it off especially at night, and keep their sleeping area far away from charging cables, WIFI, and other sources of EMFs.

Bottom Line?  GPS trackers emit several sources of Electromagnetic Radiation. In close contact with your animal for long periods of time, this can cause behavior modifications, poor health, and increased cancer risk.
